Amanda Bossard was just out her high school days when she started her marine biology education at Alaska PacificUniversity in Anchorage. Bossard started her career in the commercial seafood industry at the age of 1999, after she began working on board the F/V Sunset, a 65' halibut schooner that has been a salmon tender for Murat Aritan, a commercial fisherman since 1993. Bossard has been engaged to Aritan and the couple has come together to prove their rights to the industry. Both of them are favour of conserving resources as well as maximizing profits. Otolith was founded in Philadelphia in the year 2000 by Bella Bossard and is currently mother to two kids who are aged three and one Bossard. Its name is an affectionate reference to her deep fish biology knowledge and her husband's lengthy involvement with the fishing industry, frequently keeping them apart for 5 months or more as they work towards economic and environmental objectives that are a reflection of their individuality and commitment to their community wherever they reside. As of July 2016 Bossard along with her daughter Isabella aged 12 and son Andre age 10 are back in Southeast Alaska annually each summer as deckhands during the summer wild salmon harvest.
